Stranraer have held talks with FC Twente about the possibility of the Dutch side playing the Blues in a pre-season friendly this summer.
The Stranraer and Wigtownshire Free Press reported today that the Stair Park side hope to host the team, who currently sit eight in the Eredivisie, in a tournament in July.
A source from the League One side confirmed to Hedges and Heartache that the club is awaiting confirmation from the Dutch side, with further details expected to be released in due course.
FC Twente won the Eredivisie in 2010, when managed by the former England manager Steve McClaren.
In the years that followed they played in both the Champions League and Europa League.
More recently the club have faced financial difficulties, and were almost relegated to the Dutch second tier last year as a result.
The Tukkers are no strangers to the south west town, having visited Stranraer in 2011 for a ‘Festival of Football’.
However, nothing has been finalised yet.
An FC Twente spokesperson was unwilling to comment.
Stevie Farrell’s men currently sit ninth in League One, but they are undefeated in his time in charge.
