Alloa Athletic striker Jamie Longworth has heaped praise on striker Greig Spence after he scored his 20th goal of the season last night.
Longworth was also on target in a 3-0 win over East Fife, which kept the Wasps in the title hunt.
Speaking about Spence, Longworth said: “He manages to find these spaces and seek out chances.
“When he gets the ball in and around the box, you’re just so confident he’s going to score.”
“His link up play is excellent, he’s a very intelligent player, he picks good passes and brings others in to the game as well.”
The 29-year-old former Stranraer and Queen’s Park striker admits that he hasn’t played as much as he would have hoped this season, with most of his appearances coming from the bench.
However he feels that he has shown his worth when he has played, and he is happy to be a part of the squad.
He said: “I’ve been pleased with my own performances when I have come in and after last night we’re six points behind Livingston, so as much as I’m obviously pushing to play I’m still really enjoying it.”
Last night’s victory helped the Wasps to make up ground on Livingston, however the Lions have two games in hand.
Longworth is reluctant to talk about a title push, however he hopes his side can keep the pace at the top of League One.
He said: “If we can just keep winning games and putting pressure on them you never know.
“There’s tough games in this league so we’ll certainly need to be at our best until the end of the season, but hopefully if we keep winning it puts a wee bit of pressure on them.”
