Young midfielder Kyle Turner has praised his manager after signing an extended contract with Stranraer FC.
He put pen to paper on a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2019.
Turner said “I’m really grateful, the gaffer is good. He gives young boys a chance.
“He is one of these guys that, if he thinks you’re good enough he doesn’t really care about the age or how much experience you’ve got.
“If he thinks you’re good enough he’ll put you in there and he puts his trust in you.”
The promising 18-year-old has become a regular starter for the Blues this season under Brian Reid, scoring four goals in all competitions.
In a statement the club said that the length of contract is unusual for the level they play at, but Turner insisted that won’t affect the way he plays.
“It was just an additional contract because I’ve been doing so well and they wanted to offer me another year because I’ve established myself in the first team.
“They want me obviously to kick on a bit more and do a bit more for the team scoring more goals and stuff like that so I don’t feel any additional pressure now.”
With the new contract signed Turner has set his sights on helping the team win promotion alongside his personal goals.
My target is to get promotion, that’s what really my aim is. To get the team and get us in promotion because we were unlucky last year.
“It’s just getting more first team games under my belt as well.
“I’ve played mostly every game in this league campaign so far so hopefully I just keep kicking on and keep playing more and more games because the more games you play the more experience I’m getting.”
